Who We Are

We are part of the Anglican Communion.

We are one of the world’s largest global Christian denominations, consisting of 85 million Christians in 165 countries who are members of 46 diAerent provinces in full communion with the Church of England and the Archbishop of Canterbury, sharing a common heritage, worship style based on the Book of Common Prayer and episcopal structure.

We are part of the Episcopal Church.

We are 1.5 million Christians in nine provinces, 106 dioceses across the United States, and 22 countries. We worship using the Book of Common Prayer, governed by bishops in apostolic succession, and have a theological balance of Scripture, tradition, and reason. The mission of the church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. We follow Jesus into loving, liberating and life-giving relationship with God, each other, and with the earth.

We are part of the Diocese of Alabama.

We are a faith tradition rooted in God’s unconditional love, and a collection of people who celebrate our differences instead of letting them separate us. We follow Jesus, and with him as our example, we strive to love one another, stand up for the marginalized, and welcome the stranger. We are 87 faith communities and six college ministries across Alabama.

We are Church of the Ascension.

We believe in sharing love and grace with God and one another, on our corner of Clanton Avenue in Montgomery’s Garden District and far beyond!
