Clergy Forum - Easter Season
Jesus and the Disinherited
Sundays at 9:15 AM - Upper Room
April 7 - May 12
God’s justice prevails in the world only when we are willing to recognize and name the fear, deception, contempt, and need to love one another beyond that differences of color. Howard Thurman inspired Martin Luther King, Jr. and helped shape the Civil Rights Movement. He was the first black dean of a white seminary and the first to found and co-pastor a diverse congregation. His teaching of the Gospel examines the example of Jesus’ life and declares that hatred does not empower—it decays. Thurman’s gift to us is a faith that thrives in a world that attempts to destroy one’s humanity, especially hose who are marginalized with their backs against the wall.
