Altar Guild
The Altar Guild has been described as lay people doing “Holy Housework:” polishing silver and brass and arranging flowers. Actually, the purpose of the Altar Guild is simply to assist the clergy. The duties of the AG are to prepare all things necessary for the celebration of the Eucharist…and all other sacraments and offices of the church: weddings, baptisms, funerals. It is a privilege to serve and AG members strive to make their efforts an acceptable offering to the Lord. If you are interested in this ministry for lay people, contact Virginia Humphrey, Chairman of Altar Guild.
Ascension Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)
The youth ministry of Ascension (EYC) exists to provide fellowship, formation, and service opportunities for young people grades 6-12 at Ascension as well as their guests/friends. From weekly learning opportunities like Sunday school and occasional Sunday evening discussion lessons to fun and fellowship like games/trivia night, outings to restaurants and other places the youth of Ascension are always on the move. Another key focus for the youth of Ascension is service. Our students participate in local service projects as well as summer missions opportunities. There are many ways for volunteers to get involved with our group. A few opportunities include teaching a class or leading a small group, volunteering to drive for outings, or providing food on Sunday nights. We also have periodic need for hosts for special events (lake day, pool parties, etc.). For more information about how you can support the youth of Ascension feel free to reach out to Nick Mielke.
TLC
The Love of Christ exists to let parishioners know we are aware of a crisis or illness and want to let them know they are loved. A meal or food item is delivered. Volunteer opportunities include providing food and frozen goods for TLC freezer and delivering those. Volunteers can sign up for one month a year to be on call to deliver items and participate in cooking events throughout the year.
Newcomers
The Newcomers Ministry is an exciting new ministry which focuses on welcoming, embracing and immersing newcomers to Church of the Ascension into the life of our church. We seek volunteers with a welcoming heart, who are willing to attend regular meetings, complete assigned tasks, and who can help us think creatively about ways to make COA more welcoming and user friendly. Those interested in this great ministry are invited to contact Newcomers Committee chair, Nelson “Smitty” Smith.

Our front desk/receptionist answers the phone and door, allowing the staff to focus on their individual responsibilities. The shifts are mornings (8:30-Noon) or afternoons (Noon-4:00), Monday through Thursday. You can contact Tracy or Fay for more information.
